Privacy Policy

Swirly Studios builds apps for young children. We treat your family’s privacy the way we treat our own — with care and a minimum-collection rule. This page explains, in plain language, what that means.
The short version
- No personal information is collected from children.
- No marketing analytics, no behavioral tracking, no advertising IDs. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook SDK, or any third-party advertising or behavioral-tracking SDK in our apps. Lickety Split goes online for only two things — checking a Premium subscription and sending crash reports — and neither includes personal information (see below).
- No advertisements are shown inside our apps.
- Swirly holds no data. We do not run servers that store your data, and we have no user accounts. Anything the apps create — settings, Speech Sets — lives on your device or, if you opt in, in a cloud storage account you control (such as your own Google Drive). The one exception is a Lickety Split Premium purchase, which RevenueCat checks as described below.
What we collect
Lickety Split collects no personal information and does not track how you or your child use the app. The timers, music and characters all work offline. The app remembers a few choices on your device only — the language and character you picked, and which timers are used most — and deleting the app removes them. It goes online for only two things:
- Premium subscriptions. Premium is an optional yearly subscription, bought through the App Store or Google Play, and Apple or Google handles the payment — we never see your name, email address or payment details. To confirm a subscription and restore it on a new device, the app uses RevenueCat, a service that checks purchases on our behalf. RevenueCat receives the store’s receipt for the purchase and a random identifier it creates for this installation of the app. It does not receive your name, email address, location, advertising identifier or any information about your child, and we do not use it for analytics or advertising. Before anything can be bought, the app asks a question only an adult can answer.
- Crash reports. If the app crashes or hits an error, it sends a report to Sentry, a service that helps us find and fix bugs. A report contains technical details only: what went wrong, the app version, and the kind of device and operating system it happened on. It contains no name, email address, advertising identifier or location, and we do not use reports for analytics or advertising.
On Android, the app is built so that it cannot read the advertising identifier at all. The web version of Lickety Split keeps the same choices in your browser and has no purchases.
Swirly AAC collects nothing either. The app runs on your device. If you opt in to share a child’s custom Speech Sets — the picture buttons and words your child uses — between grown-ups (for example between parent and speech therapist), that sync happens through your own Google Drive (or another cloud storage service you choose). The Speech Set content is stored in your cloud account, under your control, governed by that provider’s privacy policy. Swirly never sees, transmits, or stores it. We also do not record what the child taps, how long they play, or any other interaction data.
No accounts
Swirly Studios does not operate user accounts. There is no “sign in with Swirly,” no password we store, and nothing for us to lose in a breach — because there’s nothing on our side to begin with. Authentication for the optional Swirly AAC sync is handled entirely by your chosen cloud provider.
Email support
When you write to [email protected], we receive whatever you send us. We use it only to reply, and we do not add you to any marketing list.
Children’s privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K)
Our apps are designed for use by young children with the help of a grown-up. Because we collect no personal information from children and run no behavioral analytics, we comply with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the spirit of GDPR’s child-data protections by simply not collecting child data in the first place.
Operator information
The operator of the Swirly Studios apps and this website is Swirly Studios LLC. Email: [email protected]
What we collect from children
No personal information. Our apps do not request, collect, or disclose personal information from children — including name, email, phone number, address, photo, voice recording, precise location, advertising ID, social-network handle, or any profile, friends-list, or behavioral / usage data. The apps do not contain in-app chat, user-generated public profiles, social-network features, or third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.
The two exceptions, already described above under “What we collect”, both come from Lickety Split and contain no personal information about anyone. RevenueCat’s random installation identifier is used only to confirm and restore a Premium purchase, and crash reports only to fix bugs. Under COPPA §312.5(c)(7), this use of a persistent identifier is limited to “support for the internal operations of the service” and is not used to contact a specific person, build a profile, serve advertising, or for any other purpose.
How children’s information is shared
Because we collect no personal information from children, there is none for us to share, sell, rent, or disclose to anyone — not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to research partners, not to anyone.
Parental rights
As a parent or legal guardian, you have the right to:
- Review any personal information we have collected from your child (in our case: none).
- Request that we delete any personal information collected from your child (in our case: nothing to delete on our side; uninstalling the app removes everything from the device).
- Refuse to permit any further collection or use of your child’s information (already the default — we collect nothing).
- Receive a description, in plain language, of what (if anything) is collected and how it is used. That description is this Privacy Policy.
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected] with the subject line “Parental request”. We will reply within 7 business days.
Verifiable parental consent
COPPA requires apps to obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting personal information from a child. Because our apps collect no personal information from children, no such consent is required or solicited. If that ever changes for a future feature, we will obtain verifiable parental consent before that feature collects anything.
Data deletion
Swirly runs no servers that store your data. To remove the apps’ data from a device, uninstall the app. To remove Swirly AAC Speech Sets synced to your own Google Drive (or other cloud storage), delete the relevant files in that cloud account. A Lickety Split Premium purchase leaves RevenueCat with only the store’s receipt and a random installation identifier. To cancel the subscription, use your App Store or Google Play subscription settings.
